house training a dog can be hard work if you aren’t diligent about the process. Puppies are easily trained and it only takes a little consistency to potty train a puppy.

Here are a few tips that will hopefully help you if you’re going through this right now.

If puppies don’t eat, they don’t poo. No, I’m not saying “don’t feed your dog!” The reverse of this says that when they do eat, they poo.

Get on a feeding schedule with your puppy. Dogs should be fed twice a day. Thirty minutes after your puppy eats, take him for a walk.

A feeding schedule is very important here. That way, the dog can get his body in a routine and will be ready to poo when you walk him.

When potty training your puppy, you also want to make sure he isn’t urinating in the house.

Well, you could always just not give your dog water. Just kidding! That would be cruel. Young puppies should be walked every 3 to 4 hours. As they get older, their bladders are able to hold it better.

You can move to walking him every 5 hours at this point. Eventually, they’ll be able conform to your work schedule and not urinate in the house when you’re gone for a few hours.

Although you have some tips on how to house train your dog, we both know there will be accidents that happen inside the house during this process.

With puppies, you can only discipline them if you actually see them do the deed. If you’re gone at work all day and you come home to a puddle by the back door, you shouldn’t punish them or rub their nose in it.

You don’t know when the accident happened and the dog might not even remember doing it if it happened hours before.

Therefore, they won’t understand what they’re being punished for. In that case, you should clean up the mess and continue to walk to the dog on the schedule that he’s used to.

If you see an accident happen in the house, point it out to your puppy that the it’s unacceptable to go potty in the house and immediately take him outside.

That way, the puppy will relate the idea with going potty with the outdoors. So potty training puppies doesn’t have to be that bad.
